When: Day 5, bright and early in the morning
Where: Labyrinth!
What: A daring labyrinth

[you somehow land into this labyrinth with a hard thud, sending clouds of dust flying everywhere. what you're in now is a stone room that has a flickering torch placed on each wall. it smells a bit dingy in here, like what one might picture an actual labyrinth or dungeon to smell like.

there doesn't actually seem to be much worth investigating in this room, aside from a sign and three old, wooden doors before you. the sign reads:

"If you risk it all, you gain it all. If you risk nothing, you gain nothing."

somehow, very inexplicably so, you get the strange sense that the riskier you play, the better the prize.]

[ Had it not flipped him off, he would have felt bad for what happened but—WOW HOW DARE?

There's absolutely no hard feelings as he's dumping that half of the skeleton back into the slush to allow it sink to the bottom for all he cared. Though once that's over and done with, he's going to be turning on his beloved king. ]

This is why you just don't go touching things.

Maybe that's exactly why you should touch things. Interesting adventures.

I figure we should do something about those spikes closing in on us. The vine, a button or maybe a little touch of magic.

[ He's eyeing the vine and the button—neither one seems to be a good choice. ]

Magic seems to be a bit on the cheating side, don't you think?

Well, there weren't any rules posted for no magic. But I'd be willing to try for either options otherwise.

[ Going to go check out that button, should he push it, dear? ]

[ Feel free to push the button while he's examining the vine and contemplating the magic thing. ]

True, but I wouldn't want to waste my energy doing something like this.

[by the glowing red button there is a little sign, one that was very difficult to see from a distance. its tiny font reads "DO YOU DARE PRESS ME?"

as for the vine, it's covered in small, soft spikes that don't seem too sharp.

and by now, though it hasn't actually been that long, the room's certainly become noticeably narrower than before—thankfully the two of you still have your reasonable walking room even with the giant spikes considered. but it is slowly closing in.]

[ If there was any doubt about pushing the button he's going to be doing the button pushing now. ]

You're asking for it, button.

[ And the queen is waiting to see what happens with the button being pressed, just fyi! ]

you hear a "ding"

and then the entire floor gives out beneath the two of you]

[ What do you mean the entire floor? How does an entire floor just "give out"??

Well good thing that this guy was near the vines because he's reaching out to them and grabbing a hold of them. While also being aware that his beloved king isn't exactly nearby.... ]

[ Meanwhile, he is trying to grab onto anything as he starts to plummet with the caving in floor. Good times, this! ]

[ Can he...swing over to the king? No? Yes?

Oh hell forget the whole swinging thing, if his king is going down then he's going to go down with. Cue this guy letting go of the vine to go fall with his stupid husband who decided to push the button. ]

[ Love you, too, dear. ]

Arthur, no...! [ But too late, sigh. ]

[ All of the love and kisses...except. well. ]

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO PUSH THAT BUTTON.

Adventure!

[ That will surely earn him a smack later. ]

[ HE'LL SMACK HIM NOW! While...falling. If he can manage the thing. ]

[as the two of you fall, there are some additional vines now hanging alongside you. there's no telling how strong they are, or what they're connected to, but it's not like there's a very clear view of the place you might wind up landing either just yet]

[ Well falling to his death is not a good plan, so he'll go back to grabbing the vines once he's done smacking his king. ]

[ Thanks for the love and care that the smacking takes importance. But he's gripping for a vine, too. Trying to take hold. ]

[the two of you successfully grasp onto some vines. they hold strong, allowing you to come to a stop, dangling in midair.

now that you're not falling, you can see what is below you: a giant hedge maze

and beside you, though several many feet over, is a large tree that can be swung over to—it seems that these vines are connected to one of its very tall branches.]

That would have been bad if we had fallen in different areas.

[ Readjusting his grip on the vine so he doesn't slip or fall. ]

Yeah, it would have been. The last thing we need is to be split up in a place like this.

[ Looking at their options. Hedge or the large tree, hmm. ]

Do you want to try swinging to the tree?

[ He's curious about this tree. They can always head to the hedge later if they can. ]

[when you two swing over to the tree, you can each find a place to settle on one of its large, thick branches.

and now the two of you have additional choices!

on one hand, you both stand before a person-sized (not person-shaped) hole in the tree's trunk opening to a spiral staircase inside the tree.

on the other hand, just a few feet from you guys are branches with thick piles of leaves arranged visibly like steps leading downwards—not towards the hedge maze—but outside the tree]

[ Examining the staircase inside of the tree then to the path to outside of the tree—he's not going anywhere yet because who knows where that'll lead them. ]
