Who: You, you, and you!
When: Day 1, evening
Where: Outside of town, a ways over there
What: A labyrinth in the form of a social bingo!

[later that day you hear that obnoxious horn sound, the one that would be sounded when they discovered a labyrinth. you follow this sound past the town and wind up at a set of stairs leading into the the ground. by these stairs is a sign reading HEAD ON IN. though you might normally be inclined to dilly dally, you're inexplicably drawn to walk down those stairs...]

[the stairs leading down to this "labyrinth" are absolutely grandeur. when you reach the foot of the steps, you become dressed to the nines in some kind of formal wear, like what you'd wear to a fancy ball... which would explain the room before you: you've stepped into a large ballroom. ballad music plays, tables line the wall, and is that a complimentary buffet table next to the wet bar? on the far back wall of this space are a pair of double doors, settled underneath an inaccessible balcony.]

My, my, my, my, m~y!

[a voice rings out from above—and an indistinguishable figure appears on that balcony, looking down at you with a hungry grin; their low voice is upbeat, but oddly smooth]

I've never had guests before! Oh, but you weren't invited... Tsk, tsk! Why, a bunch like you look like you could cause me problems... How troublesome! Oh, troublesome indeed! Still, unlike that royal kindergartener, I am actually kind enough to throw you a party! She didn't do that for you, now, did she? Hahahaha!

[they're still laughing when a bingo card materializes in your hand. between their laughter and constant chatter, they don't seem to be giving you much room to say anything. when their laughter stops, they speak again, their voice taking on a grisly tone]

If I'm going down, I want entertainment, you hear me? And there's only one way I want to go... Do you know BINGO? Must I spell it? Remind you that it's his NAME-O? Ha! You must do what you can to complete a row, or two rows, or the WHOLE CARD! If you do well, you'll earn more than just my dear palace's erasure...!

[they laugh, their laughter growing louder by the second, resonating through the spacious room—then it abruptly stops. just as quickly as that "person" appeared, they disappear, leaving behind nothing but a cloud of black smoke that quickly dissipates into thin air]

Expecting something a little more hellish, were you?

...I was expecting something involving more...exploration. And possibly combat as well.

I'm not certain how bingo fits into a labyrinth at all but I suppose this world is simply...unusual.

Who knows? It's nonsense. ... Still, I do like rewards. Let's see...

[Looking over his bingo card, which square to fill, ho hum...~]

Your eyebrows are quite distinctive. Do they take much grooming?

[And not even waiting for the answer, he stamps off 'comment on someone's appearance'.]

[...raising a brow at that, but going to go ahead and answer anyway.]

They grow in that way naturally. The beard is what requires the most grooming.

[Gives said beard a cursory glance. It's not something he's ever bothered with.]

I'm sure. [And looking at his card again.] I don't see any reason we can't continue this. Which next?

[looking over his own card]

...How would you feel have about a drink over at the bar?

Ooh, is that an option? [It is! Rideaux brightens right up!!] This really couldn't be any simpler. A toast to these labyrinths, and the pathetic people who need our protection from them.

[and off to the bar I suppose!]

It's certainly a considerate option.

[grabbing a glass once he's at the bar and helping himself to the wine]

A toast to the labyrinths, and the people who found themselves in such a sorry state to require protection from a menace that attacks with simple games.

[And filling a glass as well, raising it in a toast at Van's words. Then he raises his voice—not loud, but loud enough to exceed conversational.]

Thank you, gracious host of the labyrinth, for giving us this banquet and the chance to destroy you without lifting a single finger in combat. Thank you, citizens, for your complete incompetence. Thank you [Rideaux tips the glass toward Van;] for the company, and most importantly; gracious thanks to Her Majesty, for giving us this wonderful opportunity to profit from her weakness. Your failings will always be remembered.

[Will that do for a speech? Rideaux's going to stamp the square that says so!]

[It's certainly impressive enough to leave Van speechless for a moment...Though he quickly tips his own glass in turn and downs it.]

I'm almost afraid of what would happen if Her Majesty somehow heard that...But she does seem more like the sort to cry over hurt feelings than to throw any troublesome tantrums over the matter.

She likes to be insulted. She's quite the little deviant, our dear sponsor.

[Okay, that's not exactly what she said, but hey. Close enough.]

[Van just...raises an incredulous brow.]

Really? It seems I have much to learn about Her Majesty.
